Palopo, June 30, 2025 – English Education Study Program of UIN Palopo in collaboration with SMA Negeri 11 Luwu successfully held English Camp for two days, on June 27-28, 2025. This activity aims to improve the English language skills of students and teachers through various interactive activities.

The event was opened by the Vice Principal for Student Affairs of SMA Negeri 11 Luwu, accompanied by Husnaini, S.Pd.I., M.Pd. as the Head of English Education Study Program of UIN Palopo and Dr. Wisran, S.S., M.Pd. as the English Education lecturer of UIN Palopo. In her speech, the Head of English Education Study Program of UIN Palopo hoped that English Camp can be a routine agenda that has a positive impact on the world of education, especially for students and teachers at SMA Negeri 11 Luwu.

During the activity, participants attended hands-on training with experienced mentors, and participated in a Talent Show featuring fashion shows, musical performances, and musical dramas. The second day was filled with morning exercises, educational games, and ended with a post-test to measure understanding and speaking skills in English.

The evaluation results showed a significant improvement in the participants’ English language skills, both in comprehension and speaking practice. The activity was officially closed by the Head of English Education Study Program of UIN Palopo, Husnaini, S.Pd.I., M.Pd., who invited all participants to continue to be enthusiastic in learning English.

This collaboration is a proof of English Education Study Program of UIN Palopo commitment with SMA Negeri 11 Luwu in supporting the improvement of the quality of English education in the region. The organizers hope that this program can continue in the future.

Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, Fakultas Tarbiyah dan Ilmu Keguruan, Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Palopo, resmi memperoleh peringkat Akreditasi UNGGUL dari Lembaga Akreditasi Mandiri Kependidikan (LAMDIK). Hal ini tertuang dalam Surat Keputusan LAMDIK Nomor: 716/SK/LAMDIK/Ak/S/VI/2025 dengan skor akreditasi sebesar 370. Masa berlaku akreditasi tersebut dimulai sejak tanggal 5 Juni 2025 hingga 4 Juni 2030.

Predikat “UNGGUL” merupakan capaian tertinggi dalam sistem akreditasi program studi di Indonesia. Capaian ini mencerminkan mutu dan kinerja program studi yang sangat baik dalam berbagai aspek, meliputi tata kelola, kurikulum, sumber daya manusia, penelitian, pengabdian kepada masyarakat, sarana dan prasarana, serta luaran pembelajaran.

Pencapaian ini tidak terlepas dari kerja sama dan kontribusi seluruh sivitas akademika Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, termasuk dosen, tenaga kependidikan, mahasiswa, alumni, serta dukungan dari mitra dan pemangku kepentingan lainnya. Keberhasilan ini juga menjadi motivasi bagi Program Studi untuk terus meningkatkan kualitas layanan akademik, menjawab tantangan global, dan mencetak lulusan yang kompeten, profesional, serta berakhlak mulia.

Larompong Selatan, 6 Februari 2025 – Warga Desa Larompong Selatan kini memiliki solusi praktis dan inovatif untuk mengatasi masalah sampah organik melalui seminar bertema “Pengelolaan Sampah Organik dengan Inovasi Tongkat (Tong dan Kotak Ajaib Terpadu)”. Acara ini digelar di Aula Kantor Camat Larompong Selatan dan menghadirkan Prof. Dr. H. Rustan Sartania, S.Pd., M.Hum, dosen IAIN Palopo, sebagai narasumber utama.

Seminar ini bertujuan memberikan pemahaman kepada masyarakat tentang cara mengubah sampah organik menjadi kompos berkualitas menggunakan teknologi sederhana bernama “Tongkat”. Prof. Rustan dalam pemaparannya menjelaskan bahwa teknologi ini tidak hanya membantu mengurangi volume sampah, tetapi juga membuka peluang ekonomi bagi warga melalui penjualan kompos yang dihasilkan. “Inovasi ini dapat mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan sekaligus menciptakan sumber penghasilan baru bagi masyarakat desa,” ujarnya.

Manfaat langsung yang dirasakan warga antara lain meningkatnya kesadaran akan pentingnya pengelolaan sampah yang ramah lingkungan dan mudah dilakukan. Teknologi ini juga dapat diterapkan dengan biaya rendah, sehingga mudah diadopsi oleh keluarga-keluarga di desa.

Para peserta seminar mengaku sangat terbantu dengan pelatihan ini. Salah seorang warga, Rani, mengungkapkan, “Dulu kami hanya membakar sampah, tapi sekarang kami tahu cara mengolahnya menjadi kompos. Ini sangat berguna bagi kami yang memiliki kebun kecil di rumah.”

Seminar ini juga mendorong warga untuk lebih aktif dalam menjaga lingkungan dan menciptakan perubahan positif. Selain mendapatkan pelatihan, masyarakat diajak merencanakan langkah lanjutan agar pengelolaan sampah organik berbasis “Tongkat” dapat diterapkan secara menyeluruh di desa.

Melalui kegiatan ini, diharapkan masyarakat Desa Larompong Selatan semakin mandiri dalam mengelola lingkungan sekaligus membuka peluang ekonomi baru yang berkelanjutan.

On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, the English Education Study Program held an event titled “Reflection and Strengthening of the Independent Curriculum (MBKM)” for fifth-semester students. The event featured the presence of the MBKM Teaching Assistance Course Advisor, Prof. Dr. Sahraini, M.Hum., who delivered remarks on the program.

In her speech, Prof. Sahraini appreciated the MBKM program as an effort to enhance students’ competencies. However, she noted that there are still many aspects that need improvement to ensure better implementation in the future.

Meanwhile, the Head of the English Education Study Program, Mrs. Husnaini, S.Pd.I., M.Pd., expressed her delight in hearing feedback from teachers and school principals where students were placed. According to the feedback, the teachers highly appreciated the students’ contributions, particularly in assisting them with lesson preparation and classroom management. This feedback reflects the significant impact students have made through the MBKM program.

Mrs. Husnaini encouraged students to continue learning and honing their skills to become competitive graduates who can excel at regional, national, and even international levels.

The English Education Study Program successfully organized the Entrepreneurship Expo on Thursday, December 12, 2024. This event marked the culmination of the Entrepreneurship course, where students showcased their innovative business projects as part of their final assessment.

The event attracted 127 visitors, including students, lecturers, alumni and guests from partner institutions such as SMPIT Insan Madani. Representatives from the school, including teachers and students, actively participated in the expo. The visiting students engaged with the presenters by asking insightful questions about their products, adding a dynamic and interactive element to the event.

The expo was held in an English Area, requiring all transactions and interactions to be conducted in English. Students exhibited a variety of products, including snacks, office supplies, hijabs, and English language tutoring services.

In her opening address, the Head of the English Language Education Study Program, Mrs. Husnaini, S.Pd.I., M.Pd., commended the exceptional efforts of the course lecturer, Mrs. Nurhajar P., S.Pd., M.Pd. She emphasized that the course plays a vital role in equipping students with entrepreneurial competencies, aligning with the program’s graduate profile, which aspires to produce graduates who excel as educators, researchers, and entrepreneurs.

Mrs. Husnaini further expressed her hope that similar initiatives in other courses could facilitate the dissemination of student-created products, fostering creativity and practical skills across educational and entrepreneurial domains.

On Saturday, December 7, 2024, the English Students Association held a successful sharing session titled “The Path to Camp EPIC: A Journey of Opportunities and Growth.” The event took place at the Phinisi Auditorium and was attended by 125 students from various semesters (1, 3, 5, and 7).

The session featured Abdul Muthalib, a distinguished Camp EPIC awardee and student of the English Education Department, as the speaker. Moderated by Ayu Pratiwi, the event highlighted Abdul Muthalib’s experience in the EPIC Camp Pre-Service Teacher Training organized by the Regional English Language Office of the U.S. Embassy Jakarta in collaboration with Universitas Indonesia, Bandung.

During the session, Abdul shared insightful details about the registration process for the program, including eligibility requirements and selection stages. He also recounted his journey through the program, discussing creative teaching strategies, collaborative activities, and the challenges he faced. Beyond recounting his experiences, Abdul provided practical tips to help students prepare for such opportunities.

The event aimed to inspire and motivate students to pursue similar programs by highlighting the benefits of participating in Camp EPIC, such as enhanced teaching skills and boosted confidence as future English teachers. Abdul encouraged the audience to embrace such opportunities and prepare diligently to become the next generation of competent and competitive campers.

The National Essay Contest, hosted by the English Students Association as part of Endept’s Got Talent (EGT) 2024, was successfully held from Thursday to Saturday, December 5-7, 2024. The competition brought together participants from 7 universities across Indonesia, showcasing their critical thinking and writing skills.

The event featured impressive submissions from 10 teams representing institutions such as Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara, Universitas Islam Negeri Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau, Universitas Islam Negeri Alauddin Makassar, Institut Agama Islam Negeri Kudus, Institut Agama Islam Negeri Palopo, and others.

The Head of English Language Education Study Program, Husnaini, S.Pd.I., M.Pd., extended her appreciation to the winners of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places by awarding development funds to the students as the winner. She also encouraged them by saying, “Let this achievement be a motivation to carve more brilliant accomplishments in the future. Keep learning, never stop, and do not be complacent with today’s success.”

The winners were announced as follows: 1st Place went to Nayla Mulya and Silvia Silva from IAIN Palopo; 2nd Place was awarded to Najwa Ramadhani and Indah Alya from UIN Sumatera Utara; and 3rd Place to Xiang Fei and Maulana M. Al Ghifary from IAIN Palopo. Additionally, three honorable mentions were given to outstanding teams from UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, IAIN Palopo, and UIN Datokarama Palu.

This event highlighted the intellectual talent across Indonesia and strengthened academic collaboration among institutions.
